FOCUS Paralane Ultegra di2 2018
Focus has really upped the game in endurance/gravel road with a stunning range of Paralanes for 2018.
The Ultegra Di2 is the real standout, with the new Ultegra R8050 Di2.
Slimmer hydraulic levers, new rotors (now enclosed for safety and also revised fins for extra cooling), filter-down rear mech technology from the new higher-end Dura Ace groupset introduced in 2017, long cage mech variant to run up to 34T at the back, revised front mech design to accommodate wider tyres, there's a lot going on with both the new Ultegra hydraulic groupsets.
Full Synchro Shift mode only requires one shifter to utilise the full range of gears coordinating front and rear shifts for a seamless transition through the range, rendering the left lever redundant. Semi Synchro still uses both shifters but makes automated or 'correction shifts' at the back to match your front shifts and to allow for smooth changes and more consistent cadence. Shifting can apparently be done under high crank load. The junction box is now bar-end mounted, very neat.
All modes are fully customisable in respect of shift patterns and personalised gear mapping to suit riding style, it's a whole world of fun!
Mavic Ksyrium wheels and Continental GP 4000 tyres make for a stunning overall package..with two colour choices (Sunset Orange looks great).
